Simple, and Stylish Wedding Reception Centerpiece: Craft Project
September 25, 2006
This simple, yet elegant table centerpiece is a great way to make a fancy “to do” at each table, without breaking the bank.
This is so easy, even a child can do it! I had my 8 year old son help me. For my own wedding, we picked up stemware at our local thrift stores. The idea wasn’t to have every table look exactly the same, but rather for each table to be a variation on a theme. If you’re looking for a more unified appearance, please make sure your count is accurate and buy everything you need at once, to ensure colors and shapes match.
For each centerpiece, you will need:
1 wine goblet, or other stemware
2 pieces of tulle 9-12″ in width (either square or circle)
2 contrasting curling ribbons approximately 10-14″ long
1-3 tea light candles (the 7-hour floating type)or other floating candles, depending on the width of the glass
water
1. Stack the tulle pieces. If you are using square pieces, turn one of the pieces so that you have an 8-point star shape. It will add more visual appeal to the finished project. You might consider using 2 diferent colored pieces of tulle to add a more dramatic appearance.
Writing - Copyrights and Trademarks Protect You
September 25, 2006
When most people consider writing a book, they don’t think about Trademarks. However, I highly recommend that you leverage your writing for multiple purposes, and that’s why registering a Trademark for your concept is a good idea. If you use your writing as the basis for workshops and other products, it’s in your best interests to protect your concepts with a Trademark.
To paraphrase the definition of a Trademark given at the official web site www.uspto.gov, a Trademark is a symbol, a word, a phrase, or a design, (or any combination), used to identify and distinguish the unique source of goods. Note that a Service Mark has the same definition as a Trademark, except as related to services instead of products.
You are not required to register a Mark. Instead, you can establish your rights to the Mark with a record of legitimate use of it. However, there are several advantages to owning a Mark that is federally registered. The most notable is your premier position if anyone else should attempt to use your Mark after your official registration date.

September 25, 2006
If you love dogs and you enjoy making money then a dog day care business may be a very good fit for you!
Let me ask you a question, “Can you imagine starting your very own dog day care business?” If you asked yourself that question and still aren’t sure, let me give you a bit of dog day care business advice….
First, make sure that you truly love dogs. Second, study your area and see if there is a large dog population. Finally, get some legal advice.
You see, if you love and care for the dogs that you keep, the chances of your dog day care business being a huge success is much better than if you are just starting a dog day care business for the money.
Now the reason that I mentioned studying your area to make sure there are plenty of dogs is simple, no dogs equals no money for your dog day care business!
Here’s a dog day care business tip: See how many veterinarians are in your area. Also, be sure to look in the paper at the classifieds section.
Kitchen Canister Sets - How to Beautify Your Kitchen
September 25, 2006
Kitchen canister sets are a great way to accent your kitchen and give you more storage space. Canister sets of today come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes and colors. Finding the right kitchen canister set depends on your individual tastes and what theme, if any, the kitchen is. Many manufactures including All-Clad, Calphalon and Fleur Rouge have a wide assortment to choose from.
When deciding which canisters to add to your kitchen also keep in mind the different kinds. A canister can be found made from stainless steel, glass, acrylic and stoneware. Families with children may want to consider acrylic or stainless steel for durability and long life.
Another consideration is how they fit the theme or go with everything else. Many sets follow a kitchen theme such as chickens, grapes or a country theme. These can fit right in and highlight the overall kitchen design. Guzzini, Fleur Rouge, Polder and some others have canisters or sets in such designs.
The advantages of different canisters should also be looked at. For those with a modern kitchen the stainless steel makes a great impression on the counter. Acrylic or glass gives you a view of what’s inside, and how much is left. Stoneware gives the option of beautiful colors and long storage for food.
A Guitar Lesson to Help You Develop Your Vision
September 24, 2006
Have you ever done any of the following?
1. Made excuses for not practicing because you "didn’t have time"?
2. Practiced the same licks and exercises that you did last year?
3. Felt like you had hit a brick wall in your progress?
4. Felt unsure as to what to practice?
Unless your name is Steve Vai, chances are you’ve done at least one of the above!
They are all symptoms of having a lack of vision.
What do I mean by vision? Vision in this context is having a clearly defined picture in your mind’s eye of how you would like to play. It must be a crystal clear, exciting and inspiring picture!
Without an absolutely clear picture of what you would ideally like to sound like, you will not know what you need to practice in order to realise that vision. You will also probably lose the drive and motivation to practice daily for many years until you can play like your vision. You may even start using the loser’s mantra which is "I don’t have time to practice".
Do You Have a Dog Day Care Business Plan?
September 24, 2006
If you are considering opening a dog day care, then you need to make sure you have a dog day care business plan. A solid dog day care business plan will help you get started in the right direction.
My name is Kelley Blackston and I run a successful dog day care. The reason our dog day care has been such a success in our local area is because we have stuck to our dog day care business plan.
By making sure things are organized we avoid the pitfalls that many people have to suffer through when starting their dog day care business.
It would be very difficult for us to have a profitable dog day care if we did not have a solid dog day care business plan.
A dog day care business plan requires that you take into consideration the cost of resources and understand the laws of your area.
Be sure that your dog day care business plan takes into account all the various needs of your dogs and their owners.
You always want a strong dog day care business plan so that your dog day care business will continue to grow each and every week.
Multiplying Sales As A Writer
September 24, 2006
Often, time is an enemy of writers. Sales seem slow and checks too small. How does one make the most of their effort? Here are some tips that will multiply your sales.
1. Companies accepting manuscripts from freelancers offer copies of their writing guidelines and sample copies. Assume there’s a reason for them. Study them. The Internet will save you much postage and time from when I started. Study their web sites as well. What do they tell you about the publication’s readers?
2. Think ahead. Lead times for publication are rarely short. Writers’ guidelines often teach Christmas is in July. Lead times can be shorter for the Internet. Learn what they are. Submit accordingly.
3. Take advantage of your research. Write more than one manuscript for the same effort. This adds to your productivity. Interviewing a camp director? Write a feature article on how to select a camp for more than one market. Write a filler article. Write an article on finding work at a camp.
4. Resell the same manuscript multiple times. My record for off-line publication with one manuscript is seventeen reprints. It is easy to surpass this on the web.
How To Choose Water Garden Plants
September 24, 2006
So. The water garden bug has bitten. You’ve dug and leveled and sweated and said words you hope that no one else has heard. Now it’s time for the fun part ? picking out your water garden plants!
Plant varieties within these four categories are what you need to eyeball: deep-water, marginals, oxygenators, and floaters. (If you think these words are big and weird, just thank your stars we’re not talking medicine.)
After you’ve diligently planted your babies in plastic tubs, pans, or clay pots, packing the fertilizer- and chemical-free soil down tightly, load the container down with pea gravel to keep the soil from floating away. (Don’t ask why this works, but it does.) Plunk your prize into the water at the appropriate depth (You’ll read about that in just a minute, so hang on to your hat.) and you’re on your way!
Plant-dunking should be done during the growing season. Wait four or five weeks for the water plants to do their thing before you add your fish. If you just can’t hold your horses, er, your fish, for that long, you can jump the gun a couple of weeks, but the idea is to let the plants first get established.
Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue: Unity Candle Craft Project
September 23, 2006
Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. There are plenty of crafty brides out there looking for a unique design for their unity candle. They want something that is as special and unique as their wedding day. Many artists are ready and willing to custom make a Unity candle for an eager bride - and charge anywhere from $30 to $200 - and that’s not with any gold-plating or diamonds set into it!
As an alternative, take some of the “momentos” from your upcoming wedding - perhaps a copy of your invitation, some ribbon or tulle to match the gown and do it yourself! This project is as simple or as complex as you make it out to be, and you’re only restricted by your imagination. The best part about this candle is that it will never burn away! We will embed a tealight in the top of the pillar so that you only have to replace the tealight when it burns out. Ultimately you will have a lasting momento of your special day that you’ve made.
You will need:
7-9″ pillar candle
2 clear-cup tealight candles
1 pencil
1 teaspoon
1 tape measure
1 hot glue gun
as many items to decorate your candle as you see fit.
Doggie Day Care is an Awesome Alternative
September 23, 2006
Doggie day care is becoming more and more prevalent in our society. This is mainly due to the fact that there are so many dogs all around the world and people are looking for a good alternative to the routine trip to the kennel.
Don’t get me wrong. There are very good kennels all around the world but doggie day care is unique. Doggie day care is designed to provide dog owners with the assurance that their beloved pooch is going to receive a lot of one on one attention. Plus, a doggie day care provides an environment very similar to what the dog is already used too.
When you take a look at the numbers of dogs all around the world, you will start to understand the need for good doggie day cares.
Doggie day care takes a lot of the worry out of going to work or going on trips. Doggie day care helps you avoid asking your neighbors to come by and feed and play with your dog when you are away from home. Your family and friends have a life also and taking care of your dog can sometimes be a difficult task.
