Breeding Tetra Fish Successfully

If you are keeping tetras, chances are you are breeding tetras, even if unknowingly. In the wild, tetras normally breed during the rainy season, but in the aquarium, they may breed year round. Female tetras are egg-scatters that typically fill with eggs every ten to fourteen days.
The female tetra indiscriminately sprays her eggs into clumps of fine-leaved plants. The eggs are adhesive and stick to the plants. However, tetras as well as other tank mates often find tetra eggs and small fry an irresistible delicacy.
If breeding tetras is your goal in keeping them, the best thing to do is to separate males and females. This allows you to keep control of breeding and improves your chance of achieving a successful hatch of fry. Smaller species of female tetras become sexually active at nine to twelve months old with larger species ready to breed at 1 ˝ to 2 years of age.
Male tetras are generally a month or two older than females for successful spawning to take place.
Males are typically slimmer and more colorful than their female companions are. When viewed from above, the female tetra is distinguishably plumper and rounder because of the build-up of eggs within her body.

In days gone by, outdoor furniture was cast from iron. Today, cast aluminum furniture is used more often. Cast aluminum carries all of the grace and charm of cast furniture, but avoids the blight of rust and peeling paint.
The process by which this gorgeous furniture is created begins with a model carved from wood. This wooden model is then used to create a metal mold. A mold is formed by pressing the wooden replica into casting sand, and then pouring molten lava into the impression created. As the molten metal cools it forms a cast which is used to create the beautifully ornate cast aluminum furniture that we often see gracing outdoor settings.
Cast aluminum furniture sets traditionally European scene. Bistro sets consisting of small tables and two chairs evoke the picture of an outdoor French scene. These graceful settings are perfect accents for balconies, gardens, or any small nook.

How To Get Started Flying RC Airplanes

For thousands of years man has dreamed of flight. Nothing has amazed people as much as flying machines have in the past century and there is still more to come. What is even more amazing though, is the progress in personal flight toys. You can fly everything from a miniature helicopter, to a one 20th scale Cessna, which you can build at home yourself.
The more amazing thing about today’s RC airplanes is the fact that anyone can fly them, and some airplanes are very easy to fly. For example, I bought a $50 Hobby Zone airplane and the controller had two controls, one that could steer the plane left or right and then the second was throttle (speed) control. How can you get any simpler then that!
As easy as it can be, it still can be difficult for beginners to get started in this hobby. Since I now have the knowledge that every beginner should know, since I was a beginner once, I wanted to share it with other people so everyone can enjoy the RC airplane hobby.

A well-punctuated approach letter may make the difference between acceptance and rejection by a publisher’s commissioning editor. In this article, I’ll look at just one small, but often bothersome, piece of punctuation: the apostrophe.
One of the biggest problems that writers face when it comes to punctuation concerns this seemingly insignificant little squiggle. This article will show you how easy it is to use, for the rules are few and simple.
When I edit books for print publishers, I find that the apostrophe is one of the most niggling problems for writers when it comes to punctuation. It needn’t be such a challenge, and, when you’ve read this short article, you’ll probably wonder what all the fuss is about.

Dog Vaccinations - What You Need to Know to Protect Your Dog

Almost all communities in the U.S. require at least one shot for your dog or puppy, and that’s rabies. The rabies vaccine should be given when the puppy is twelve to sixteen weeks old, and then another one year later. Following, he’ll need just one every three years. At around eight to sixteen weeks of age, the puppy’s natural immunity from its mother’s milk has worn off and it becomes at risk to a number of environmental hazards. For an older dog (above one year old), follow the same regimen as for a puppy. Be sure that you have proof that your dog or puppy has had his required rabies shot.
There is another shot recommended by many veterinarians, especially for puppies. This shot is often referred to as the five-in-one as the shot contains vaccines for Distemper, Hepatitis, Leptospirosis, Para influenza and Parvo, known officially as DHLP-P or CORONA. For puppies, the first shot is given at six weeks, another at nine weeks, a third at twelve weeks, a fourth at sixteen weeks and once a year following. For older dogs, the shots can be administered once, then again after three weeks and once a year thereafter. Some veterinarians will also recommend shots against Bordetella, although this vaccine has been shown, in certain studies, to only last from six to eleven months, and hardly ever past one-year. It can be given to puppies as early as three weeks of age and to older dogs every year.

Not all writers write good grammar. That’s a fact. It’s no big deal. Well, mostly it’s no big deal. As a freelance books editor, I’ve seen hundreds of books whose authors cannot produce decent grammar and punctuation. I do it for them. I’m paid to do that — mostly by the hour.
So why bother to write good grammar? you ask. What does it matter if I can’t tell a colon from a semicolon, or when to use double quote marks and single quote marks? Is it such a sin to use inappropriate or downright wrong words if someone is going to correct them for me? Who cares if my syntax isn’t logical? If there are copy editors and proofreaders to ensure my book looks good, why is it so important to go to the trouble of ensuring my grammar and punctuation are tiptop?
Well, it might just help you to sell your book, that’s why. And I don’t mean sell it to the buyer in the bookstore: I mean sell it to the commissioning editor who is on the point of deciding whether your life is about to change.

Most dogs live between ten and seventeen years. The relationship you have with your veterinarian is going to be a long one. It’s a worthwhile investment of your time and energy to shop around carefully to find a vet whom you’ll be comfortable with for years. If you don’t feel that you can communicate openly and honestly with your animal doctor, then keep searching.
The first thing you should look for in a vet is someone who you believe will be able to communicate with you. This person’s first job will be to diagnose what’s ailing your dog or to try and figure out why your pet is behaving a certain way. Next, the vet should be able to explain the problem to you in a way that you can understand. The vet should then be open to any questions you need answered until you feel fully satisfied and confident that you know what your dog needs and how you can take care of it. You shouldn’t stop searching until you find a vet who is both qualified and personable enough for you.

The arrival of summer heralds a time of increased wear and tear for the average garden lawn. For a lusher, healthier, faster-growing lawn you can’t beat a bit of fertilizer. Test your soil type and choose a fertilizer to compliment this for best results. Most lawns will benefit from around three to four fertilizer applications through the year, with the first around a month before the start of the growinf season to give your grass a kickstart and then up to three more with approximately a two month gap in between applications can give good results. You can either spread the fertilizer by hand if you have a smaller lawn area to cover or use a specialist spreader tool for more even coverage, using a drop spreader for small lawns or a rotary/broadcase spreader for bigger areas.
