While it may be surprising, owning your own meat grinder can help you in your pursuit to live a healthier life. According to the USDA, the average American in 2000 consumed 300 more calories than the average American in 1985, a 12% increase, including a 24% increase of fat calories. The average daily fat intake was 81.4 grams and saturated fat intake was 27.9 grams in 2000 (ers.usda.gov/briefing/consumption). Americans are consuming too much fat, especially saturated fat.
One way to cut down on fat is to own your own meat grinder. Your meat grinder gives you the ability to manage what you are eating. You will no longer be subject to what seasonings and fillers that are found in the meats available in your local grocery store. With a meat grinder, you gain total control of what goes into your meat products. You are in charge of your intake of fats, salts, and other fillers since you are in control of the ingredients. These are just a few gardening tips for you to consider here in late June. Many people seem to think that just because all the plants have been put into their places for the summer and your perennials are blooming, or past bloom, there is no more work to be done. The garden is full of multi-colored flowers, so there must be little or nothing to do. Right? No, there is always work that may be done.
Watering alone when the weather is very hot and dry is important work. The chief thing to remember is never to give water until it is needed, and then to water thoroughly. A mere sprinkling of water with a water can to plants that are thirsty and needing a good drink is worse than useless. When you water a plant, you’ve got to get the water down to the roots which is how the plant takes up the water. If you just sprinkle the surface of the soil with a little water, you will only encourage the roots to remain near the surface and they will suffer from the heat of the sun. What you want to do is to make the roots go as deep as possible in search of moisture. Therefore, you need to give enough water to penetrate the soil to a sufficient depth. One really good watering when it is needed is better than half a dozen little sprinklings. Having the roots grow down deep also gets them down to where the nutrients are that the plants need to grow.
Rejection ? Have the Right Perspective and Don?t Quit

If you’re getting rejections from your submissions, please don’t quit yet until you read the following article. I want you to get a perspective on rejection.
First of all, I’ll assume you’ve been told a few things about rejection: Don’t take it personally; it’s a part of writing; and all well-established writers have been rejected at first, and are even rejected now. Good advice.
Then why are you still discouraged by rejection?
Here’s why. We live in a world where ignorance is bliss. You get rejected all the time, you just don’t know it. Perhaps a friend has considered calling you to do something and then changes her mind. You will never know. She isn’t going to send you a rejection letter. Suppose you owned a business and sent out 1,000 direct mail letters and got a response of ten. This is considered a very good response in the direct mail field. Those ten responses cover your costs and time and then some. Do you lament over the 990 folks who didn’t respond? No. Could you see if you demanded to have every one of them write back and tell you they aren’t interested? You’d be blue then. Consider all the offers you reject on a daily basis. Ah, but as writers we put ourselves on the line by requesting to be rejected. The publishing industry is so unique in that aspect. We demand that publishers respond to us and let us know what they want to do with our writing. We have to in order to know what to do next with our particular article or book proposal.

When you become a Pom owner, it’s up to to do everything in your power to make your pet’s life a happy one, the proper care, environment and companionship. If this sounds like a big commitment ? it is! But rest assured, the rewards of pet ownership far outweigh the work you have to put into it.
An often overlooked, but very important step in caring for your Pomeranian is to insure that he is properly trained. A properly trained dog will be a pleasure to both strangers and his master, but a lot of people do not take this important step and then wonder why their dog is not "well behaved". Many a dog has been considered a "bad" pet when all he really needed was the owner to take the time out to train him properly.

It all started with Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive” in 1979, perhaps the biggest fluke in popular music history. To follow up her hit “Never Can Say Goodbye”, Gloria’s label issued a song called “Substitute”. The track bombed. Everyone hated it, including the radio DJs and the public. Then DJs started to play the B-Side track “I Will Survive” and the rest is history.
In retrospect, it is no surprise that “I Will Survive” should have become as popular and enduring as it did. The theme of the song is universal. Who hasn’t loved and lost? But the song went further and became an Anthem for reclaiming one’s power. One could say Gloria is the Godmother of Girl Power. With “I Will Survive”, Dance Music’s fascination with a Diva declaring her independence was born! The song and theme have proven so popular that even Diana Ross, Diva Supreme herself, did her own version of “I Will Survive” in the late nineties.

Op-ed articles, also known as opinion/editorial articles, are a great way for aspiring writers to publicize their work and, in exchange, receive an amazing amount of publicity for free. You can write an op-ed piece and get it publicized provided you follow these simple rules.
Before you begin to write, you need to target which newspaper you would like your article to appear in. You stand a greater chance of getting into your local paper than in a national publication like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, or USA Today. Still, if one of the national publications appeals to you, then give it a try.
1. Follow the rules. Every newspaper has guidelines on what their specific requirements are. Familiarize yourself with these guidelines and stringently hold yourself to their requirements. Failure to do so will mean you will be rejected.
2. Write with precision. Newspapers do not like verbose writers, unless it is for a feature piece and it is for a high end publication, such as The Washington Post. Short, crisp, and to-the-point sentences are the order of the day.

A principle of all art is unity. This means that each piece of art has one meaning. Creating landscaping or a flower garden should also incorporate this principle of unity. Your landscaping or flower garden is truly a work of art as much as any painting or sculpture.
Each work of art, large or small, should have one and only one meaning. Every part of the work of art, or in our case flower garden or landscaping, should contribute to this central or unifying meaning. Stated in physical terms, all parts of the landscaping should make one body of work with each part being subordinate to the whole. Every part which does not support in this effort must be removed, no matter how beautiful or interesting it may be in itself or so the principle of unity declares.
Unity taken to the extreme is monotony. When only one color, only one tone, or only one figure is used, the result may be monotonous. A garden planted with nothing but hollyhocks or a park with only red cedars would certainly be monotonous however beautiful the hollyhocks or cedars. Even so some believe it is better to have monotony than to lose unity. Indeed, in particular cases, monotony may be considered the height of artistic achievement.
Turning Your Journal Into An Idea Bank

A few magazines refer to their written idea sources in assigning articles to reliable, experienced writers, or even allow those writers to peruse them for topics to write about.
And for awhile, I kept an idea book that was similar to a writer’s journal. But there was a problem. If I needed an idea, I had to virtually read every entry before locating the one I wanted and needed. However, doing this so frequently proved to be a waste of time and energy. But after tweaking it a bit, I found a way to make it more efficient and profitable for me.
I used a looseleaf cover and paper, organizing my journal into a few specific categories of interest, such as “pet health.” There, I would include entries that directly pertained to that topic. For example, I would include observations tracking my progress in helping my cat recover from conjunctivities (pink eye), from following the vet’s advice to developing my own strategies for administering medicine with an eye dropper. I would also include a few notes on what I probably should have done, as well as mistakes I made during that time. Bits of information from relevant, reliable websites and books would be included.
